Interactive TV: From one way communication to software-based collaboration?
| The digitalisation of TV networks redefines the interaction with the broadcasted content. Interactivity via feedback channels, storage and distribution of audiovisual data independent from venue and time, user generated content: TV channels are losing their control of the path to the living room in favour of an ubiquitous flood of images, whose utilisation is already being cultivated by innovators. The digitalisation of TV not only defines new value creation chains, but also develops activity roles that replace the image of sender and receiver derived from communications engineering. This is a touchstone for the traditional broadcasting model, which will most likely be complemented by a system of computer-based collaboration in the near future. |
